The museum is housed in the fourteenth and fifteenth century premises (yards, cloister, refectory) of the convent of Santa Croce. The visit of the basilica with his works of art is part of the tour, in the Museum of Opera are exhibited works of art from the church and convent of Santa Croce and the demolition of the historic center of Florence.
In Santa Croce everything is represented at the highest level: the frescoes, who worked Giotto, Maso di Banco, Taddeo Gaddi, Giovanni da Milano, Agnolo Gaddi; the monumental crosses and polyptychs, the wonderful stained glass windows from fourteenth century; the Renaissance architectural structures due to Michelozzo and Brunelleschi; sculptural sleeves from fifteenth (tombs, altars, pulpits) works of the greatest Florentine masters as Donatello, Antonio and Bernardo Rossellino, Desiderio da Settignano, Benedetto da Maiano. The monumental complex of Santa Croce is a significant place also for the Cappella de 'Pazzi, designed by Brunelleschi.
The museum is linked to the permanent exhibition about 300 pieces of paper and carved wood works of Pietro Parigi (1892-1988).
