Punta Ala is located about 20 km from Castiglione della Pescaia, from the north should exit the 4 lanes road Aurelia in Follonica and from there follow the signs for Castiglione della Pescaia continue for 10 km along the road No. 322 to the junction for Punta Ala, from here you have to go through another 9 km to reach Punta Ala. On another hill, Punta Hidalgo, overlooking Punta Ala, stands the Tower Hidalgo, also known as Torre del Barbiere, fortification of the sixteenth century included in the defensive system of the Principality of Piombino, that precisely in this zone reached its southern limits
