Punta Ala is a famous and exclusive tourist locality with an equipped port, a virtue for the italian nautical. Punta Ala is found in the municipality of Castiglione della Pescaia along the road that connects Castiglione to Follonica. The port is dominated from Torre Balbo, going back to the second half of the 1500's, that is found on the top of Capo Troia. On another height, Punta Hidalgo, that dominates Punta Ala, is Torre Hidalgo, know also as Torre del Barbiere, fortification of the second half of the 16th century included in the defensive system of the Principato of Piombino that just in this zone had its southern border.
