Back to Argentarola and Capo d'Uomo.

The road reachs therefore a crossroad in correspondence of Poggio Fondoni, from here the main road leads back to Porto Santo Stefano while the Panoramic road continues to the right towards Punta Maddalena and the Red Island, continuing along this road, after little open wonderful views on the coast between Punta Maddalena and the Isola Rossa, probably this is the most beutiful stretch of coast of Argentario. On a sheer cliff over the sea is found the Tower of the Maddalena, a square tower built from the senesi and upgraded from the Spanish, little under the tower Cala dell'Olio, on the other side of the bay are the Isola Rossa and the Cala dei Sassi Verdi. Beyond Isola Rossa is the Tower of the Cannelle, 15th century tower of hexagonal shape probably of senese construction. Continuing a few hundres metres the road becomes untarred and in bad conditions, on the cape beyond the Torre delle Cannelle is Torre Ciana, a senese cylindrical tower of the end of 15th century. In order to reach Porto Ercole can be covered that remaining 3 km of bad untarred road or go backwards again the panoramic road until returning to Poggio Fondoni and from here to Porto Santo Stefano and Porto Ercole.
